The Canoe Park on Pelican's Nest Drive is one of Pelican Landing Community Association's amenities. The Association maintains canoes and kayaks for residents to use on Spring Creek, a quiet meandering tributary of Estero Bay. The Canoe Park includes a launch facility and scenic boardwalk. In addition, the PLCA maintains canoe/kayak storage racks for resident-owned paddle craft. These racks are available on an annual basis for a fee. Please contact the Association's Administration Office for more details.
Residents wishing to check out a canoe or kayak from the Canoe Park must present their PLCA photo ID card (Guest Pass for residents' guests) at the south gatehouse on Pelican's Nest Drive where the necessary paperwork, safety equipment, and paddles are issued. When completed, residents need to return the canoe/kayak to the proper rack, as well as return equipment, paddles, etc. to the south gatehouse. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
If you are new to paddling, or if you have experience but this is your first time using this amenity or paddling on Spring Creek, please sign up for a 'First-Timer' Paddle. These sessions orient new users to the procedures for using the amenity, provide safe paddling instructions, and introduce participants to Spring Creek. For your convenience, we have First-Timer Paddle Notes (Click Here) and a Trail Guide (Click Here) for review.
We also have Group Paddles scheduled. These outings are intended to allow residents to participate in a casual paddle on Spring Creek, and are led by an experienced paddler. This is a good way to become familiar with the several trails that are now marked on Spring Creek. Generally, these paddles take 1 - 2 hours and depart from & return to the Canoe Park, using the Pelican Landing paddle craft.
Additionally, we try to schedule one 'off-campus' outing per month. These typically involve: meeting at the Community Center in the morning, driving to the outing location (generally a 30-90 minute drive), using the equipment and guide services of a canoe / kayak livery, spend 2 - 4 hours on the water, (often includes enjoying a group lunch at a local restaurant), and returning to Pelican Landing. These 'off-campus' outings generally cost participants $20 - $50 depending on guide service, equipment used, and length of outing (lunch is extra).

The activities are organized and managed by volunteers, with staff support. The committee is looking for volunteers to lead the paddles; anyone interested needs to be qualified, but does not have to be a committee member.
