A pristine 34-acre gulf island Beach Park is one of Pelican Landing Community Association's amenities. Located at the northern end of Big Hickory Island, the Beach Park is accessible by Pelican Landing's boat shuttles from Coconut Point Marina. Visitors may enjoy swimming, sunning, shelling, bird watching, or even fishing. Facilities include an attractive, elevated beach house with open decks, restrooms, shower facilities, nature library, two open-air picnic pavilions, and a large screened in picnic pavilion with deck. A minimum supply of beach chairs and umbrellas are provided.

Use of the picnic pavilions is on a first-come, first-served basis. Personal belongings should not be placed inside the pavilions to reserve the area for later use. Residents must have valid ID cards (cards are not transferable) to board the beach shuttle bus and boat. Cards will be scanned and invalid cards rejected. Residents are allowed up to six (6) guests per card. Up to six (6) additional guests will be permitted with temporary passes issued by the PLCA office. Parties of 13 or more at the Beach Park need to call the Association's Administration Office at (239) 947-5977 for special permission. Residents planning special functions or gatherings may reserve a pavilion in advance by calling the Association's Administration Office.
Pelican Landing conservation rangers manage the Beach Park providing assistance when needed and ensuring that only authorized visitors use the facilities. Each ranger has been specially trained in CPR and first aid techniques, as well as in basic environmental management issues. The Beach Park has a cell phone and radio in case of an emergency.
All Lee County, Florida ordinances apply to the use of the Beach Park. No pets are allowed on the island and no lifeguard services are provided. The conservation rangers oversee the daily operations and use of the island facilities. The rangers, however, are not lifeguards. Use of the Beach Park and its facilities, including swimming, are at your own risk. Proper supervision of children is required. An adult must accompany children under the age of 14. Residents are requested to avoid fishing and running boats into and through the designated swim area. Posts have been installed to mark the extent of the swim area which is the stretch of beach immediately in front of the location of the beach lounges and umbrellas.
At certain times of the year, parts of the island may be roped off to protect nesting birds and sea turtles. Resident volunteers assist with activities to help protect the natural environment of the island.

Access to the Beach Park is provided by two Pelican Landing boat shuttles. Each boat carries 49 passengers and a crew of two. Both boats are designed to operate in the shallow waters of Estero Bay; however, extremely low tides at certain times of the year may alter the boat shuttle schedule. The boat shuttle launches daily from Coconut Point Marina from 9:30 am until 3:30 pm. The final boat returns from Big Hickory Island at 4:30 pm. The regularly scheduled service has two seasonal schedules:
mid-April to mid-December: A boat departs once every hour on the half hour.
mid-December to mid-April: A boat departs twice every hour. Once on the hour and once on the half hour.
To board the Pelican Landing boats, visitors must park their vehicle in the Beach Parking lot provided on Coconut Road. Parking is NOT permitted at Coconut Point Marina. The shuttle bus will transport visitors to the dock at Coconut Point Marina. The shuttle bus leaves the Beach Parking lot promptly five minutes before the boat departure time according to the seasonal schedule. A valid Pelican Landing photo ID must be presented to board both the shuttle bus and boat. Unaccompanied guests must have a valid guest pass to visit the Beach Park. Guests living in Lee or Collier counties must be accompanied by the homeowner. A special beach wheelchair is available for anyone needing assistance. Please contact the Beach Office or notify the shuttle bus driver upon boarding.
