The Tennis Center is an amenity of the Pelican Landing Community Association.
It accommodates the Director of Tennis, a USPTA certified professional,
his assistant, staff, a registration desk, and a pro shop.
Twelve state-of-the-art tennis courts are available to residents and their
guests seven days a week. The Tennis Center is managed by a highly experienced
tennis professional who organizes club events such as tournaments, resident
tennis socials, and league play. A full compliment of lesson programs are
available.
A complete set of rules govern the use of the courts and the
Tennis Center.
All rules and policies of the Pelican Landing Tennis Center are established to
ensure fairness and level competition among all teams. Pelican Landing
rules do not supersede those of the league in which Pelican Landing
participates. The guidelines are the only policies under which Pelican
Landing teams operate. They may be amended from year to year once the
league season is over.
These rules are enforced by the Association staff. Each
resident is encouraged to become familiar with these rules and to follow them
when using the this facility.
Tennis Play Procedures
Prior
to entering the court area, all players must register at the Tennis Center by
signing their name and presenting a valid PLCA photo ID card. Reservations for
play may be made by telephone or in person up to three days in advance.
Priority is given to those appearing in person, if requests are made
simultaneously. Reservations are for one-and-a-half hour increments and are
pre-set beginning at 8:00 am. Back-to-back court reservations are not permitted. Residents are permitted to reserve no more than two courts at a time. The
person reserving the court(s) should state the names of all players in the
group. If an individual reserving a court is unable to utilize it at the
designated time, the reservation should be cancelled as early as possible
beforehand. All tennis practices (matches) are to be scheduled with the
Tennis Director. Proper tennis attire and tennis shoes are required for play. No smoking or pets
are allowed in the court area.
Court Maintenance
Courts may be closed during maintenance periods set by the Tennis
Director.
Maintenance periods generally are scheduled between the hours of 11:00 am and
3:00 pm. Courts are swept before 8:00 am each morning and between noon and 2:00
pm each day. Courts are not to be used when nets are lowered or a closed sign is posted.
These times occur when the courts are wet. Any play under these conditions may
result in serious damage to the courts or physical injury to the players. Only
the Tennis Director or, in his absence, a member of the Tennis Center staff
may authorize reopening of the courts.
TENNIS LESSONS
Group
or private lessons are available Monday through Saturday. Check the Tennis
Center for dates, times, and fees. No one other than the Tennis Director or his
designee shall give lessons for compensation.
