The Fitness Center, located in the Community Center, is a Pelican
Landing Community Association amenity. The
Association maintains this 3,200 square-foot, state-of-the-art Fitness Center
equipped with cardiovascular and resistance equipment permitting
both aerobic and strength training for a balanced exercise program.
In addition, a 1,200 square-foot aerobics room is available
for various fitness classes. This climate-controlled facility permits
exercise regardless of weather conditions.
The Fitness Center
offers the opportunity for any resident of Pelican Landing
to get fit and stay fit!
The Fitness Center is a bright and
colorful room with many windows and walls fitted with mirrors. Televisions
are located in the four corners of the facility. The flooring is interlocking
black rubber mats permitting the area to be quiet and comfortable. A sound system plays
background music.
Access to the Fitness Center is
through the double doors located in the hallway of the Community Center. A
valid Pelican Landing photo ID card is the only manner by which access can be gained.
There are two other doors located within the facility to be
used for emergency purposes only.
Each resident and resident's
guest of the
facility is required to acknowledge receipt of an Informational Notice
which explains, among other things, that the Fitness Center is a facility that
is not supervised, has equipment that can be dangerous to the
user, and that the user should be assured by a physician that exercise at a
vigorous level is permitted by the user.
Each resident is to follow the posted rules specifying the proper usage of machines,
wipe down equipment when finished, and always display proper identification when in the
Fitness Center. Proper gym attire along with appropriate shoes is required. Insurance
guidelines limit access to the facility to persons 14 years of age and older.
During high usage,
cardiovascular equipment use will be limited to 30 minutes.
Orientation programs that
give residents a basic knowledge of the machinery will be scheduled
periodically. If a resident wishes to have a personal trainer, a list of trainers
is available from the
Activities Director of the Community Center.
To insure only
residents and authorized guests use the Fitness Center, everyone MUST prominently display a
valid Pelican Landing photo ID card. Guests with a Guest Pass must
likewise display the pass. No resident may bring a guest
other than an overnight house guest to the Fitness Center before 11:00
am. Plastic ID card holders are available at the Community Center
Administration Office for a fee of $1.50. |
