Pelican Landing is a gated community with gatehouses located
at each entrance designed to control and monitor
access to the community. This amenity includes Privacy associates, employed by the Association,
who staff
these gatehouses 24 hours a day - 7 days a week.
The Privacy staff provides information and aid to residents and their
guests, as well as report any unlawful activity to the proper authorities. The Privacy
associates are not police officers and do not have arrest powers, nor do they carry
firearms. The Privacy Patrol is authorized to uphold the Association's
regulations. Those committing traffic violations will be fined.
For convenient access into the community, Pelican Landing
residents are issued vehicle bar code decals for opening gates. When passing through
a
gatehouse entrance, residents must use caution allowing only one vehicle at a time
to
pass through. If traveling too closely to another vehicle, the gate arm may
automatically drop and cause vehicle damage.
Residents are asked to use the gate access authorization system in advance, day or
night, when expecting guests. The gatehouse staff will make every effort to ensure
that guests are allowed quick and courteous entry. If authorization has not been
cleared for a visitor, the staff will attempt to contact the resident for
authorization prior to admittance. If authorization is not received, the guest
will not be admitted into the community.
Residents who have recurring guests or service company visits must include the
names of all such individuals and parties on their Resident Access Form on file
in the Administration Office. Each
person or company listed as an authorized guest must still stop at the
gatehouse and will then be allowed access into the community.
All vehicles entering Pelican Landing without an official community pass will be
stopped at the gatehouse and processed according to community access control
procedures.
Registered vehicle bar code decals are issued to residents who have a personal
vehicle. Temporary passes are available for residents with rental cars and
for friends or family members who do not reside on property. These passes
require homeowner approval and may be renewed every 90 days.
Gate Access Authorization
System (239) 495-3802
After the recorded greeting, the caller needs
only to state the name of the guest(s) and their date of arrival. After
stating this information, the caller is to press the
star (*) key to
end the recording or hang up. Pressing the star key stops the system's recorder and
saves system memory space. Regardless, the message is recorded. This
system allows a 15-second message to be recorded.
When residents call from a telephone outside of Pelican
Landing or from a second phone number within their property, the system will
prompt the caller for
a 'ten-digit phone number.' The number the system is asking for
is the resident's registered Pelican Landing telephone number. After
this is entered, the system will verify the resident is calling by requiring the
resident to
enter their four-digit security code. Once this is entered, the system will
prompt the caller to state the guest information for recording.
Some helpful tips to remember when using this
system:
-
Don't wait until the last minute to call in a
guest. It takes time for the system to distribute the message to all
gatehouses.
-
The busiest calling times are from 7:00 am to 10:00
am daily. Calling the day or night before will save the
frustration of getting a continuous busy signal.
-
Do not state name or address, the system
recognizes the registered telephone number and other resident information.
-
Please remember that this system is for gate entry
only.
-
If a resident wishes to allow guests use of the Pelican
Landing amenities, please call the
Administration Office at (239) 947-5977
to request car and/or
guest passes to be left at one of the gatehouses for guest pick up.
How To Avoid Fines For False Alarms
For those residents with alarm
systems, the following is recommended to help avoid being fined by the Lee
County Sheriff's Department should an alarm go off while away from Pelican
Landing:
-
Select
a trusted keyholder. The FIRST call from a resident's alarm monitor company
should be to the keyholder. The keyholder can visit the residence, check, clear,
and reset the alarm if false.
-
The SECOND
call from the alarm monitor company should be to the Pelican Landing Main Gatehouse at
(239) 495-2937.
The Pelican
Landing Privacy Patrol will be dispatched by the Main Gatehouse to the
residence, check the perimeter, and clear the site with the designated keyholder. If
ANYTHING looks suspicious to either the keyholder or the Privacy Patrol, the
Lee County Sheriff's Department will be dispatched.
One
more recommendation... Have the alarm system and sensors checked AT LEAST once
a year by the alarm company, preferably before heading north for the
summer and before the Florida storm season.
Residents
can help the Pelican Landing Privacy Team and the Lee County Sheriff's
Department by
selecting a keyholder and making sure the alarm system functions properly.
