The Privacy and Safety Committee meeting was called to order by Cliff Watson in the absence of Chairman, Frank Toner at 8:36 AM.

Six (6) committee members, John Duder, UOC Co-Chairman, Pelican Landing Privacy Manager, Harold Barger and Ryan Morris, Assistant Privacy Manager were in attendance.

Privacy Manager Report: Harold Barger

Discussion of the above reports.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

• John Duder discussed the wild dogs that continue to be seen in “The Colony” near the Sorrento high- rise. A discussion will be held with Marie Martel, Associate Manager, as to the best way to address this issue. John Duder suggested that traps be set.
• Security software updates are progressing a long very well.
• A resident security code will now be a part of the voice mail information.
• Up to four lines if necessary can be used with the new system.
• Discussion continues about the swing gates and the pedestrian gates at the entrances. Another bid is to be received on 10/21/2008.

NEW BUSINESS:

• The Privacy Staff attended the Customer Service class in September.
• Discussion concerning the cameras at the gates.
a. Nancy Coury questioned the status of the exit cameras. Response was given that they are not in the budget
b. Harold Barger stated that replacement cameras are needed as they are over ten years old.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 8:30 AM at the Community Center.

The Privacy and Safety Committee meeting was called to order by Cliff Watson in the absence of Chairman, Frank Toner at 8:34 AM.

Three (3) committee members, Pelican Landing Privacy Manager, Harold Barger, Ryan Morris, Assistant Privacy Manager & John Duder, UOC Representative , were in attendance.

There were no minutes due to the lack of a quorum at the June meeting.

Privacy Manager Report: Harold Barger

REF: Aug/Sept Privacy Statistics and the Privacy Log

Discussion of the above reports.
• Harold gave a report on recent auto break-ins throughout the county. Residents should take extra precautions and lock their cars.

• Several committee members felt that Privacy Patrol should exercise caution when responding to calls, and not put themselves in harms way. Additionally if a safety issue arises, privacy should report it to the sheriff office as soon as possible.

• John Duder asked if there are sightings of wild dogs is animal control is the proper authority, and could they set traps. Ryan responded yes and he would follow up with United Property Mgnt.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:


Bids are still being collected for the new gates.

The privacy patrol team is very busy on the road resealing project which will continue until November.

Security software upgrade is progressing. Privacy and PLCA is halfway through their implementation plan and everything is on schedule. PLCA will continue to keep all the residents informed as the new upgrade continues.

NEW BUSINESS:


The Privacy 2009 budget has been approved by the UOC and the final approval will take place at the annual meeting of the PCLA.

Privacy Staff members have completed their fire, fixed posts and patrol techniques training programs, and the staff is certified in AED, CPR and First Aid. PLCA will also be holding a customer service training session.

Committee members were given a copy of the traffic control procedures for review and comments.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 8:30 AM at the Community Center.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
 
Harold Barger stated they are still waiting for the light bars to come in. It will probably be another two or three weeks.
 
Cliff Watson asked about the gas mileage on the new cars. Harold said he thinks it is about the same as the Camry that privacy drove the past two years.
 
NEW BUSINESS:
 
Please watch for the Gypsy group as the Sheriff’s Dept reported that they think they were burglarizing in the area.
 
Cliff stated that privacy was approximately $46,000.00 over budget last year due to fuel, repairs and maintenance of the cars and supplies and mold problems for the gate houses
 
The budget for next year will be worked on in the near future. If the committee wishes to bring forth the need for cameras at the exit lane and also inside the cameras or any other item we should plan to bring it forth to the committee for consideration.
 
 
The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 8:30 AM at the Community Center.
